Our little man!

Here is a better picture of our man that his aunt kim took the day after he was born.

He is down a few ounces now to 7lbs 15oz but is still doing well. He didn't sleep well last night so that means I didn't sleep well either. Ryan took him at 3:30 to try his hand at getting him to sleep. I'm glad he did, because it worked and allowed me to get about 3 hours in myself. Ryan had to sleep with him in his arms reclined in the chair. I don't think you can spoil a newborn, so if he wants to be warm and sleep in Daddy's arms be my guest. The nurse came in this morning and swaddled him, laid him on his side and out he went. Thanks....can I take her home with me? Do you know how many hours we tried that last night to no avail. What a bugger we have on our hands. The good news is he is breastfeeding like a champ and my milk has come in. I can now join the ranks of the milk maid. A group I'm honored to be a part of.

Welcome Philip Benjamin!

What a long and exhausting week we have had! Mother's Day started out boring. Went to breakfast with Ryan's family and then had my mom over for "dinner." It was subway for the boys and mom and I had a chicken from the deli. Exciting, huh! On Friday the 9th I was dilated to a 2 and was completely thinned. She didn't think I would make it through the weekend, and quite honestly I didn't think I would either. I was way wrong. She made an appointment for Tuesday and said we would talk induction if I hadn't had him yet. We went on Tuesday and I was the same as Friday. She told me to go to the hospital at 8 and I would take a pill to soften my cervix more and start labor. I was having contractions every 3 minutes all night. Wednesday morning she gave me another pill and said she would come back at lunch to break my water. By lunch time I was only a 3 and she thought breaking my water would make things come more hot and heavy. She also ordered pitocin for me. At this time I was having contractions every 2 minutes and I could tolerate them. After she broke my water they came hot and heavy and got very intense. After an hour we had to stop the pitocin because buglet's heartrate dropped too low and he wasn't handling it very well. I labored until 8:30 and by then was begging for an epidural. After that, I didn't feel the contractions and she hoped I would dilate more. They restarted the pitocin and he handled it much better the second time. She came in at 10:45 to check my progress and I was only a 4. Poor buglet was starting to get a bruise on his head and she didn't think I would be able to dilate anymore so we had no choice but to do a c-section. Not what I wanted at all. I started to cry and said I needed to make phone calls to family. I'm glad I didn't have too much time to think about it because I would have freaked out more. My parents made a 20 minute trip in 3 minutes and were there to send us off to the or. We rolled in at 11:08 and he was born at 11:12 pm Wednesday night. He was 8lbs 5oz and 21 inches long. He came into the world crying elephant tears and screaming his lungs out. What a cool thing to see and experience. I leave the rest for later and add some pictures.
